Although Doug Skelton, P.Eng. started his career working for a construction company in Toronto, he knew that the City of Barrie was an area destined to grow, and with growth would come the need for engineering services. Together with his original business partner Ross Raymond, Triton Engineering (Barrie) Ltd. was established on April 13, 1970, in a small office on Maple Avenue. The number of projects and staff grew quickly in the early years, including the 1971 hiring of G. Denton Brumwell, P.Eng.
Skelton and Brumwell became partners in 1973, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The company officially incorporated as Skelton, Brumwell & Associates Ltd. on July 18, 1974, with Doug Skelton as president and Denton Brumwell as Vice President.
Following founding Partner Doug Skelton’s retirement in June of 1995, G. Denton Brumwell, P. Eng. assumed the position of President of Skelton, Brumwell & Associates. Gary Bell and Scott Brumwell, both Directors, became Vice Presidents of the firm.
In 2004, we appointed Gary Bell, R.P.P. as President and Scott Brumwell, P. Eng. as Vice President. This occurred on January 1, 2004 after the retirement of Denton Brumwell.
Gary started as a Planner at the firm in 1985, while Scott started in 1987 as a Project Engineer. They and a dedicated professional team have worked to extend the company’s reputation for quality work and achievement for a wide range of private and public sector clients. Gary and Scott became partners in the firm in 1990.
In 2010, the firm announced that Anne Guiot, RPP and Bryan Bolivar, P. Eng. would join as partners.
Anne Guiot began as a Planner in 1989 with responsibilities for aggregate planning and became Senior Planner in 2004. Bryan Bolivar joined Skelton Brumwell in 1998 as an Engineer in Training. He is now a Professional Engineer responsible for Municipal Design.
