Delphi Waterfront ANSI Management Plan

The Delphi Waterfront ANSI (Area of Natural and Scientific Interest) is a strip of publicly and privately owned lands located along Highway #26 on the south shore of Georgian Bay. As part of the development of a number of residential subdivision, a portion of the water front land was conveyed to the Town. This Provincially Significant Earth Science ANSI consists of bituminous shale that contains a variety of significant invertebrate fossils that are estimate to be 455 million years old.

SBA is leading the development of a Management Plan for the Town owned ANSI lands that will protected the ANSI and associated wetland areas and recommend management strategies that support an appropriate level of use and activities appropriate for the ANSI area. Working closely with Town Staff, SBA has undertaken extensive public and stakeholder consultation as part of the development process for the Management Plan. One Public Information was held in June 2017 and another one is planned for the Fall of 2017. It is expected that the Management Plan will be completed by early 2018.
